News and Notes....

Sophomore place kicker Leigh Tiffin was named SEC special Teams player of the week for his performance against the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Tiffin made kicks of 29, 39, 50 and 51. Tiffin has connected on his last 9 kicks. The 51 yard field goal is tied for ninth longest in school history. For the season, Tiffin is 21-of-28 in field goals and is three makes shy of the school record of 24 set by Phillip Doyle in 1990. He has not missed a field goal since his 48-yard miss in the second quarter of the win over Tennessee and has converted 16 of his last 18 attempts dating back to the final quarter of the Arkansas game on Sept. 15.

On another note the Iron Bowl time has been set for 7 pm. It will be telecast by ESPN. It will be the first time since 2003 the Iron Bowl will be on ESPN. In recent years CBS has had the game as its 2:30 telecast. It will be good to have an Iron Bowl under the lights for the first time in a while.

I blame Tiffin. If he could have hit two more field goals Alabama would have won.
